Artist Biography
Carol Eaton is a national award-winning quilt artist with a pattern published in McCall’s Quick Quilts magazine. She began quilting in 1990 just after the birth of her first child. She designed interactive baby quilts created to stimulate and engage a baby’s senses as they explore their environment. Carol’s focus eventually shifted and matured to include a variety of different subjects and styles. Today she concentrates on family, the environment and global politics. Because she is always pushing herself to learn and grow; Carol’s work remains fresh. She has designed numerous commissioned works creating distinctive, personal pieces of art. Eaton states, “Designing for others is a great way to challenge myself and fine-tune my skills”.
Carol recently launched two new product lines; she now offers unique hand-painted silk wraps and scarves as well as one of a kind hand-painted cotton fabrics designed specifically for art quilters. Eaton explains, “I typically have a color scheme in mind before I paint but, the music I’m listening to sets the tone and influences how I paint. The colors take on the look and movement of water color paints so I never know exactly what the end result will be. It’s always a delight to see how the colors migrate together and what unique creation it will become”.
